End-User computing (EUC) refers to the use of technology, typically computers, and mobile devices, by employees within an organization to complete work tasks. EUC includes both hardware and software-based setup which is accessed by the end user to perform their duties. The hardware includes devices such as laptops, smartphones, and tablets. The software includes applications such as virtualized desktops (VDI), Remote Desktops (RDS), thin client tools, etc.
Traditionally, EUC support is seen as a helpdesk/engineer provisioning, resolving issues or sometimes doing a regular update on an end user device. However, it is much more than that. Today, EUC support caters for application updates, security checks, continuous monitoring of devices and workloads, maintaining the uptime of the device or end user services and transformation of end-user support depends on developing empathy and a sophisticated understanding of how users engage with corporate technology to accomplish their goals.
